Be sure to contact a healthcare professional immediately if you experience any of the following serious side effects: itching and rash, cramping or severe pain in your stomach or belly before your next normal period, uterine hemorrhage, vaginal hemorrhage. Also make sure that you’re not allergic to levonorgestrel or any of the non-medicinal ingredients contained in Plan B: colloidal silicon dioxide, potato starch, magnesium stearate, talc, corn starch and lactose monohydrate.Severe reactions to Plan B are uncommon. If you are worried about whether you may have been infected with HIV/AIDS, or other sexually transmitted diseases, talk to your health professional about your concerns and ask how you can protect yourself in the future. Less common reactions are migraine or severe headache, lower abdominal pain, painful menstruation, and vaginal discharge. The sooner you start treatment, the more effective it will be (preferably within 12 hours after a contraceptive accident or unprotected sex). Temporary side effects, however, may occur and usually pass within 24 hours. If your period is more than a week late or if these symptoms continue for more than 48 hours or are severe, see a healthcare professional. The most common side effects include nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, headache, dizziness, breast tenderness, vomiting, diarrhea, and irregular menstrual bleeding.
